Programming
I am currently working as School Guidance Counselor at Shacklette Elementary School supporting parents, students and staff. I have provided all guidance services, advanced placement services, records and group and individual counseling services. I sit on the following committees: MTSS, PBIS, Racial/Equity, Attendance and Administrative Team. I have coordinated the Family Resource Center at Goldsmith Elementary. Before successfully writing the grants needed to reconfigure the largest center in Jefferson County, I worked at Goldsmith Elementary, Seneca High and Binet schools. I am skilled at working with students ages 3-21 from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
I have a strong foundation in building community partnerships to enhance student achievement and programming to support student transitioning. As a Coordinator, I mastered activities and tasks required of an administrator and have become highly effective at analyzing problems; communicating with staff, students, families and community members; handling discipline issues; budgeting and fiscal forecasting; disaggregating data and balancing multiple issues at one time. I am committed to this endeavor and work hard to provide academic, social and emotional support to our families, students, and staff.
In addition to program development and community outreach, I facilitate small groups, team meetings, and conduct home visits. I work closely with teachers to secure programming and interventions that will bolster academic achievement. The experience I have gained by working in this demanding position is invaluable, and is the cornerstone for what makes me an excellent candidate for the school guidance counselor position. Providing leadership comes naturally to me. I set high performance standards for myself and find that group members follow. I epitomize the work ethic, attitude and skills sought in my coworkers.
